Waterford’s own Farmers Market

I sat for a while trying to come up with a witty title for this entry, and finally decided…why? I’ll just call it exactly what it is, and what it is is fresh, fun, and a welcome addition to the beautiful town of Waterford.

More than once I’ve called Waterford the “Norman Rockwell of Small Towns”, with it’s century home architecture, and true small town friendliness that only comes from a tightly knit community of fantastic people. It’s just barely big enough to justify a 24 hour grocery store, has only 1 gas station, and if you’ve heard of it, it’s probably because of the annual Pumpkin Fest (or Yin’s…best Chinese restaurant ever!)

Well, there’s now an addition to the town that could easily develop into the new reason you come to town. Waterford has introduced it’s own Farmers Market, and if the first few weeks of it are any indicator, it’s here to stay! ¬†For now, it’s an entirely outdoor venue, with a collection of vendors that will satisfy your needs for produce, bread, and other various items, one of which is the budding business my wife and I have made: A&M WoodCraft, selling high end cutting boards. (If you haven’t seen any of our work yet, swing over to our FB page at www.fb.com/AMWoodCraft).

The weather has been no hindrance whatsoever, having now experienced both rain and shine, and while the sun was blazing down, refreshments were offered for free! Already they’ve brought out fantastic crowds, some checking out what’s new, some with one particular vendor in mind, some leaving with nearly a full grocery list. And who can blame them? I have yet to taste a better cheese than what’s offered here. Same with the bread. Incredibly, same with the lettuce!

I’m excited to see how this venue develops, I wonder about future plans for winter, or if it’s only going to be a seasonal thing. All I can really say is come check it out for yourself, it’s held every Wednesday between 4pm and 7pm. Hope to see you there!

This is fantastic! So pleased for the success being realized. Proud of Claire, Tammy, Tracy, Kim and last but not least, my daughter, Lisa. What a powerhouse of talent these ladies are. So pleased that we could help you with the planning and answer your questions. If you forget anything at the Waterford Farmers’ Market, come on down to the lake and visit the Port Rowan Farmers’ Market as well. A beautiful setting at the Harbour in Port Rowan with lots of great products on Fridays from 3 to 7 p.m.

    • You’re absolutely right, Betty, there’s a lot of talent and hard work that’s been put into this to make it a success! I’m happy to be able to acknowledge them in my own way by writing about it, and hopefully spread the word a bit more to bring even more success to them!

(by the way, feel free to share this blog post, and encourage your friends too as well. The more people that see this, the better for everyone!)
